Community Design / Flagship program
Community design gives learners a reason to listen carefully, define the need, and iterate with someone beyond the classroom.
The idea
Schools, libraries, nonprofits, clubs, makerspaces, and community organizations can submit appropriate design problems. CADReach reviews each request for educational value, reasonable scope, and safety before matching it with participants.
Appropriate projects
Good community design briefs are specific enough to understand, flexible enough to explore, and safe enough for an educational setting.
Educational scopeCADReach provides educational design experiences and does not provide licensed professional engineering services. Safety-critical, regulated, medical, structural, or other professional engineering work may be outside the program’s scope.

Project process
A clear, feedback-driven process helps participants learn professional habits without presenting the work as professional engineering services.
A partner shares a clear need and helpful context.
CADReach checks fit, feasibility, learning value, and safety.
A participant team and mentor are matched when capacity allows.
The team turns the need into a shared design brief.
Early sketches explore multiple directions.
A selected concept becomes a detailed digital model.
The partner reviews the work against the brief.
The team responds to feedback and documents decisions.
Files or a prototype are delivered when appropriate.
